I'll Be Home for Christmas is the twelfth episode of the fourth season in this television sitcom on Step by Step, which was aired on ABC on December 16, 1994. It was directed by Joel Zwick and written both by Brian Bird and John Wierick.

Summary[]

It's Christmastime and JT feels that he can going skiing with his mates now that he is 18, but the trip doesn't go as expected; bad-tempered Aunt Edna visits, much to Frank's and the children's displeasure.

  • This episode takes place in December 1994.
  • Cody says, "Talk about romance in the 21st century!" when actually this episode takes place in 1994, the 20th century.
  • Aunt Edna is also the name of the Griswold's Aunt in National Lampoon's Vacation (1983). Interestingly, Doris Roberts, who plays Aunt Edna in this episode, was also in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) as a different character.
  • The title is taken from the classic 1943 Christmas song "I'll Be Home for Christmas" written by Buck Ram, Kim Gannon and Walter Kent which came out the same year as another classic "White Christmas".
  • Although they share scenes together, Edna never interacts with Cody or JT.
  • Aunt Edna says she watches People's Court.
  • Two characters--Larry and Garry--look like the cartoon characters and are called Beavis and Butt-Head by the others.
